My country is my pride and I love my country excessively. India is a peaceful and democratic country. People belonging to different castes, creeds and religions live here peacefully.
India is one of the seventh largest country of world. It is the second most populated country of world. It has 28 states and seven territories. It is also called as the Bharat or Hindustan. The national language of India is Hindi. National animal of India is Tiger. Whereas, the national bird of India is Peacock. The national flower of India is lotus and its national fruit is mango. There are three colors in the flag of India.
The tricolor flag of India in the upper most par, the saffron color, represents purity. Whereas, in the middle, the white color, represents peace and in the lowest part of the flag, the green color, symbolizes fertility. The national anthem of India is “Jana Gama Mana” and the national song of India is “ Vande Mataram”.
Religion in India is characterised by a diversity of religious beliefs and practices. The preamble of the Indian Constitution states that India is a secular state, although India has a powerful Hindu political party. The Indian subcontinent is the birthplace of four of the world’s major religions: namely Hinduism, Buddhism, jainism, and Sikhism collectively known as Indian Religion that believe Moksha is the most supreme state of the soul. According to the 2011 census, 79.8% of the population of India practices Hinduism, 14.2% adheres to Islam, 2.3% adheres to Christinity, 1.72% adheres to Sikhism, 0.7% adheres to Buddhism, and 0.37% adheres to Jainism.
Language
Many people living in India write in Devanagari script. In fact, it is a misconception that the majority of people in India speak Hindi. Though many people speak Hindi in India, 59 percent of India residents speak something other than Hindi, according to The Times Of India. Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil and Urdu are some other languages spoken in the country.
Religion
India is identified as the birthplace of Hinduism and Buddhism, the third and fourth largest religions. About 84 percent of the population identifies as Hindu. About 13 percent of Indians are Muslim, making it one of the largest Islamic nations in the world. Christians and Sikhs make up a small percentage of the population, and there are even fewer Buddhists and Jains, according to the “Handbook.”
Food
Wheat, Basmati rice and pulses with chana (Bengal gram) are important staples of the Indian diet. The food is rich with curries and spices, including ginger, coriander, cardamom, turmeric, dried hot peppers, and cinnamon, among others. Chutneys — thick condiments and spreads made from assorted fruits and vegetables such as tamarind and tomatoes and mint, cilantro and other herbs — are used generously in Indian cooking.Many Hindus are vegetarian, but lamb and chicken are common in main dishes for non-vegetarians.
Architecture and Art
The most well-known example of Indian architecture is the Taj Mahal, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to honor his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It combines elements from Islamic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles. India also has many ancient temples.India is well known for its film industry, which is often referred to as Bollywood. The country’s movie history began in 1896 when the Lumière brothers demonstrated the art of cinema in Mumbai, according to the Golden globes. Today, the films are known for their elaborate singing and dancing. The major classical dance traditions — Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Kathakali — draw on themes from mythology and literature and have rigid presentation rules.
